A morning as a volunteer 😀

So Thursdays are my favourite day of the week ! Not only is it an agility day but it’s also the day I go up and volunteer at Ashbourne animal welfare.

I love volunteering,  no 2 weeks are ever the same and I get some one to one time walking the dogs who are looking for their forever homes.

Today when I arrived I did the usual , wrote my name in the diary , wrote my name on the board for next week , grabbed the poo bags , high vis vest, lead and treats then made sure all the dogs were in the inside bit of their kennels.

First to walk was the gorgeous Pepsi :

He is a fantastic dog , a collie cross very clever and loves a fuss. We did a bit of basic training in the compound which he did really well!

Next it was the lovely Tallulah:

Tallulah was found as a stray abroad but she is a cracking dog , she also know’s a lot of basic commands. (I would take both these dogs home if I could! !)

Next were 2 dogs Ada and Brit – I couldn’t get a picture of these 2 as I was too busy playing with them 😂 and chatting to the other walker about all the dogs. You can see them on the website tho click here !

Next was the gorgeous Foxy

Foxy was also a stray from abroad. Bet you can’t guess why they named him Foxy?!

Then it was the turn of Louis

Louis is a Lurcher / Greyhound cross and is a big boy! He loves to play as you can see from his pictures.

Then finally it was another favourite of mine little Milly

I would love to bring Milly home as I can’t help but think that she would be fantastic at agility !

There are lots more dogs (and cats ) looking for their forever home up at the Ark . The Ark have a monthly open day where you can go and have a look round and view the dogs and cats , at the June one there will also be a doggy dancing display. There will also be stalls and the very popular cafe will be open for refreshments and food.

Take a look at their website Ashbourne Animal Welfare where you can see all the profiles of the animals needing homes and all their open days and fundraising events are listed on there.

When all the dogs have been walked that’s my bit done for the day , so I make sure my pockets are empty of poo bags and treats and my hi vis jacket is back on the peg and I drive home feeling thoroughly happy I’ve had the pleasure of all of the dogs company this morning.

Now it’s back home to grab a quick lunch then to walk my 2 before a evening of agility training later.

What better way to spend a Thursday eh?!
